Southern Beef and Lamb School

Wagga Regional Livestock proud to sponsor Riverina Local Land Services to host the very first Southern Beef and Lamb School to be held from 17-19 February 2026 at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga.

The school will give leading producers and advisers higher-level knowledge on markets, genetics, nutrition, ag business and meat science plus networking opportunities. There’ll be a mix of morning lectures and afternoon workshops with practical take-homes and new skills to implement.

These workshops and lectures will cover:

  • Markets: capitalising on international and domestic opportunities 

  • Using genetics and genomics for advancing beef and lamb operations 

  • Optimising animal health and nutrition 

  • Healthy soils and productive pastures 

  • Improving carcase quality 

  • Farm business management  

Running over 2.5 days the school offers breakout sessions to deep dive into beef and lamb specifics with an inspiring list of speakers from processors, retailers, producers, scientists and industry leaders. A snapshot of speakers include:

A reminder that the new version of NVDs must be used for all stock sold from January 1, 2021.

New NVD books can be ordered from the LPA website but at present deliveries are taking up to 6 weeks.

ENVDs can be downloaded from the LPA website.

Please note the below information in regard to LMC access limitations effective from 6pm Saturday June 26 2021

The Wagga Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre will be reinstating stage 2 restrictions on attendance at the Wagga Wagga Livestock Marketing Centre from 6pm Saturday June 26 2021.  This means that the facility will be only accessible to essential personnel from 28 June 2021

Further requirements will also be mandatory to attend the LMC. These include, One Person Per 4 Square Meters and ALL persons at ALL Times MUST Wear An Appropriate Face Mask

*          Essential agency staff & accredited agents

*          Genuine registered buyers with a true intent to purchase (as advised by WSAA)

*          Livestock transporters with access to unloading / loading ramps

*          MLA Livestock Market Officers
